From Cat A to Cat B creating a contemporary co-working space
Housed in Clove Building, across the river Thames, our client instructed us to transform their office into a new space through a 20-week refurbishment programme, that reflected their work in architecture, design and engineering. Starting with a Cat A office refurbishment and finishing with a Cat B fit-out, we created a sleek, industrial-style inspired space in keeping with the building’s heritage and our client’s work.

Great to work on this project to realise the clients own design scheme which was inspired by the industrial Cat A scheme we also completed on this building.”Dan Keith Director – Open
Design and build
The client had a clear design scheme inspired by the industrial look of the building. We were appointed as main contractors on this 20-week for an office that needed a Cat A and Cat B refurbishment works to turn their vision into a reality.
We began by stripping out previous fittings of the office to reveal structural walls and exposed brickwork, before installing an exposed M&E system to further enhance the industrial feel.
The second phase of the office was focused on the fit-out refurbishment. The client wanted a space that would facilitate private conversations and teamwork, but also incorporate quiet space for individual work. We used glazed partitions to divide the space, while pine effect flooring in a neutral tone created a feeling of openness.
The new space focuses on wellbeing
Employee wellbeing was a key focus of the project. The 8000 sq.ft. of office refurbishment also included showers and changing rooms, spacious break-out areas and a modern kitchen. The end result is a space that’s both creative and healthy, with an edgy, industrial design befitting of both the building and the client’s business.
